Over the last year we have had the pleasure of employing Abla Zemrani and Callum Pearson as Investment Analysts whilst on their placement year from university.
Abla Zemrani:
“I have definitely learnt a lot more about investments and investment funds while working at G&P. Having an insight on this has not only confirmed what I would like to do in the future but also helped me shape my dissertation topic for next year. I have drastically improved my time management, which will undoubtedly be an asset next year when I will have a lot of work and tasks and little time to do it all.”
Abla will be finishing her Economics degree at the university of Bath next year.
Callum Pearson:
“During my time at Gale and Phillipson I have gained exposure to a wide range of business functions- including technical analysis of funds, market research as well as managing intraday requirements of the services that Gale and Phillipson provides. My knowledge of investment management has been underpinned by my study of the Investment Management Certificate, a qualification which I have thoroughly enjoyed studying for and value highly, as it has taught me skills that will be useful going forward to University, and beyond. Throughout this year I have developed my knowledge of Excel, specifically functions using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) – which is used throughout the investment management industry and will prove very useful in future job roles. Aside from my day to day tasks, my work life balance has been great, and the social dynamic of the office has been just what I hoped it would be. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the investment team in here in London and will be sad to move on.”
Callum will be returning to the university of Exeter to finish his Economics and Finance degree.
The very best of luck to both Abla and Callum next year, you both have done an amazing job over your placement year.
New Starters
We would like to also welcome Ben Jones and George Buley to the investment team. Who will be taking over Abla and Callum’s position as Investment Analysts.
Ben is currently studying Economics at the University of Bath.
“I am looking forward to getting to know the team whilst furthering my understanding of financial markets. Some challenges I will face are learning VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and gaining a comprehensive understanding of the processes behind our services.”
George is also studying Economics at the University of Bath.
“I am most looking forward to learning the process and intuition behind Gale and Phillipson’s investment decisions and getting to know the team. A main challenge will be becoming proficient with various software used in our processes and prioritising daily responsibilities.”
