A typical day starts with getting in at 8.30, turning on the computer, and checking emails for any important updates. We have two main trading deadlines each morning for our investment services, one at 10.30am and the other at 11am. By these times, we need to have switched any new money received into the service the previous day and have checked and placed trades required for regular reviews.
After the morning rush, we can then usually focus on other tasks we have ongoing. As analysts, we are responsible for the maintenance and running of our investment services. We review our panel of funds for each asset class on a regular basis. This ensures that we have regular oversight of what our clients are invested in. Occasionally, we have meetings with outside firms and fund managers to keep updated with fund strategies and learn about new funds that may fit our investment strategy.
We constantly have ongoing projects to streamline and improve the way we run our services. We optimise the tools we use regularly and create new tools where processes can be automated.
Throughout the day, we also check the withdrawals and transfers that are to be done within our cash management service. Our time is also used to answer any queries other teams have about the funds, services or issues they are having with our tools.
Most of us leave around 5 but as we all do exams we usually stay later to get some studying in after work!
